When someone makes the grand transition in life to The Spirit World, there is a period where this Spirit can re-adjust, settle in, and get accustomed to the other side.

During this time, this Spirit also reflects on their time on Earth.

The life review is a period right after Spirit transitions, it’s a period of rest where you are shown all of the good that you’ve done in the world.

You are also shown the good you have done from the perspective of others, meaning you get to see your ripple effect on the Universe as other Divine Beings normally do.

During the life review, the Spirit gains perspective on their previous earth experience so they can grow as a soul and transition to their next lifetime.

Let’s start this post with the first question I’m usually asked about life reviews.

How long does the life review last?

This period of reflection generally takes a few weeks to many years, with the average Spirit spending 6 months to 1 year in reflection of their life on Earth.

However, since there is no concept of time in the world of Spirit, this time to review your life after you pass may take years.

During the life review, your deceased loved one, now in Spirit, is surrounded by Spirit guides and relatives, and begins to review their life and the lessons they were meant to learn while on Earth.

What’s the process of review like?

Starting from birth and extending to the great return, the deceased will see every event in their lives playback to them as though on a giant movie screen in front of them.

Some Spirits have shown this to me as an actual movie screen, some have shown film strips, and while some have shown themselves watching their life in solitude in a small room.

Your loved one is surrounded by the love and support of their guides, angels, and those they know on the other side.

They will get to see all their experiences through their own perspective. They also see their experiences through the perspective of every single other being or person that was involved.

The average life involves the perspectives of all those involved because humans are a community species. Because of this, the life review, for some, can take a long time.

When complete, your deceased loved one will have a lot of perspective about those they knew and of their own actions while on Earth.

This perspective is often what your loved ones will share in mediumship readings - what they have learned and using this perspective, assist you in your own life.

They usually forgive hurts from Earth during the life review and whittle down truths they learned from being on Earth. Often, they want to and are excited to share these truths with the living.

When a soul is in life review, does it change your connection with them?

Often in readings, people will want to know why their husband, father, mother, brother hasn’t visited them immediately after transition.

The explanation that they have shared and it is typically along the lines of,

“I wanted to visit and always planned on visiting you, but I was in my life review, and I wasn’t able to get out and see you until now!”

Some in Spirit have mentioned that they could occasionally take breaks, just as in school or in a long, all-day workshop. They also remark they mostly are occupied with reviewing their life upon passing after they crossed over.

So when a loved one passes over, give them time to visit you due to this.

What can you learn from a soul’s life review?

A Spirit gains perspective and wisdom, and this perspective includes life wisdom they can share with you on their next visit.

The life review also usually evokes a process of separation for the Spirit and for you.

During the life review, they process their life, and you get a chance to grieve and restructure your life with them in Spirit.

So the life review process can be healing and supportive for all parties who are adjusting to the afterlife transition.

The life review may be helpful in the grieving process. It can also be beneficial in the letting go process of those that are moving on to the next stage of their spiritual path.

To recap, A Life Review

  • Lasts on average, 6 months to 1 year after the transition to Spirit

  • Allows the soul to process and gain perspective on their life on Earth

  • They are usually surrounded by their guides and angels during this time, and it is a supportive process

  • Afterlife communication often stalls during this period and initiates once again as soon as the process is complete

To end, a life review is just a temporary period after Spirit transitions, where the individual gains wisdom about their life on Earth.

This frees the Spirit of all burdens and lessons and allows the Spirit to transcend to divine love.
