A Mediumship reading is an investment in time, faith, and trust.

As a sitter, you are trusting The Spirit World, yourself, and the medium that you’ve made the right choice and have followed the guidance to consult a medium.

The medium providing the reading is also trusting The Spirit World, themselves, and you, the sitter, that the energy will be right and perfect for the most beautiful union and display of divine potential there can be.

Mediumship is a three-way link between yourself, Spirit, and the medium, and all can do things to prepare for the best connection possible.

This article is about what you can do before your session to prepare for your consultation.

Whether your mediumship session is on the phone or in-person, below are nine tips for getting the best consultation Spirit can provide -

The 9 Best Tips To Get The Most Out Of A Mediumship Reading

1. Cultivate An Open Mind

Be open to receiving information and messages, and to be open to hearing from any Spirit who may come through for you.

Try to avoid having your mind and heart tunnel focused on meeting with one Spirit, as any may come through.

Think about all you know in Spirit World and then go one step beyond that in the family tree and in your family lore.

Many different types of messages may come through. What you think you most need to know now and what Spirit thinks you most need to know now may be two entirely different things.

All of the messages may be valid messages.

2. Invite The Spirit Guides And Angels You Wish To See To Join You

The Spirit World usually appears for reading either the night before or the day of.

They will often appear around the sitter or the medium, gathering information about what is most needed now. Then they come to the consultation with some of this.

Do you have someone you’d specifically like to speak with on The Other Side?

If so, the night before or morning of, verbally or in writing, welcome in who you want to join you at the reading.

I suggest writing down a list of what you’d like to focus on. I don't know entirely why, but I think The Spirit World is watching and during your session, and some of this can get pulled out of the energy more efficiently.

3. Think Of Anyone You Know Who May Have Died

Rake your mind of anyone that you know who may have died. Ponder about those in your family, friend group, or even if they are outside your social circle.

Even if you're going to a medium, who specializes in another area, like Tarot, The Spirit World can still show up.

You may have friend’s friends come through, people who passed away when you were much younger, or even relatives from when you were a baby show up.

4. Breathe And Meditate Before Your Session

Some consultations can be emotional by nature. Before going to a session, try burning off as much excess energy you have, so if emotions do come through, they’re more gentle to handle.

Going for a run, stepping outside and taking ten deep breaths, or even taking a walk around the block before you go inside can promote a more peaceful session. You may wish to meditate or listen to nature sounds.

5. Remember The Love

Spirit communication is borne out of love for the humans they watch over. When information comes through, this is all that is happening.

Mediumship Readings are a gift to confirm that they are with us always, and are assisting and guiding us from The Other Side.

Most mediums have given up other paths because of this calling, and we enjoy demonstrating it and feel there is a reason for it.

The Spirits who come through in your sessions will be the ones most powerful in this love energy at that moment of time-space.

There may be others there who are lending their energy to the one speaking so they may provide this demonstration of their love to you.

6. Too Much Information

You do want to ask specific questions when given the opportunity. However, specifics can create a bias, especially if you are primarily seeking validation of support or survival.

If you are worried less about validation, share, and let us know how it makes sense for you, as the information you provide often corroborates what we get. We enjoy validation when we get it because the symbolism Spirit provides sometimes looks different compared to how to applies to you on Earth.

Most mediums will ask you if what they are saying makes sense, or if you know the speaker, or ask if you want to start the session with questions or open floor.

Make sure to let your medium know if, after fifteen minutes, you have yet to feel the link, and they will usually do what they can to readjust and retune into the connection or ask Spirit to change the symbolism.

7. Be Prepared To Take Notes

Sometimes taking notes helps you to soak in the information as it is being delivered.

Since readings often include information for the future, or that you are not immediately able to process or validate – taking notes can be essential.

Some people like to listen to or read through the readings they got many years ago to see what has come true and what has changed since.

Having a way to take notes can also be supportive of your growth and memory of the connection, mainly if Spirit has provided actionable steps.

8. Pay Attention

Wait until it is right for you to consult a medium, and when you do, try to book one on a day when you can be fully there in mind-body and spirit.

Do your best to stay in the present moment space during a reading.

Sometimes messages are emotional and heartfelt, but they may be unable to reach you if you are sad or closed.

So for this reason, some people do choose to wait to have a reading until they are of open mind and heart after they are free enough to grief.

9. Give Yourself A Time Buffer Before And After Your Session

If you’re getting a reading during the workday, and it’s an hour, try to take off at least 30 minutes before and after so you can give yourself time to meditate, relax and have a snack after you process the connection.

Give yourself time to think about and connect with any of the guidance you are given. I recommend my clients take the afternoon off or even schedule their reading at the end of a week.

Mediumship readings can be life-changing.

They can also answer any questions with the information provided. If you do choose to meet with a medium, know that it’s okay to make it an adventure, and it may take up years to thoroughly soak in the information.

Mediumship and connecting with your loved ones is such an amazing and beautiful experience, we all do genuinely want you to receive the most out of your connection.
