Prayer for Strength During Difficult Times

The last 2.5 years have been quite challenging.

First, the COVID-19 Pandemic affected the operations of all things and changed the world as we knew it.

Then, the Ukraine-Russia war started. Then, the rapid price inflation and subsequent interest rate hikes began.

Even if you are already through your post-COVID-19 recovery phase, when costs increase alongside global instability, it does seem to add an additional level of whitewater to everything.

Some days, the navigation of life feels like trying to dock a watercraft in Class 4 Advanced Rapids, on harder days, it feels like a Class 5 Expert Rapids - long, violent, potentially dangerous.

Western River Expeditions takes a lighter view and calls Class 4, “Thrills at the Price of Skills,” and Class 5, “No Guts, No Glory and Oh, It’s Glorious!”

In the river of life, Class 4 or 5 may not feel thrilling and glorious, but it’s all about perspective.

Perhaps you have experienced or are currently experiencing Class 6, the most advanced rapids of all life experience.

The jokes about experience at Western River Expeditions stop here and they call this stage “Just Don’t.”

Raftmasters (linked above) calls Class 6 Rapids Extreme, if not new and exploratory waters, on the edge of risking death.

The room for error once you reach Class 6 Whitewater Rapids is zero, these waters are extremely unpredictable and dangerous.

First, if you are at what feels like “Class 6 Rapids” in life, congratulations. I’m impressed, you woke up today.

You’re a warrior. You’re still breathing, you’re still above the grass, you still have the internet to access. Perhaps later, after you get some rest, you can show me your ways.

Second, everyone seems to pray when times get difficult.

It doesn't seem to matter if they have a religion, consider themselves religious or define themselves as nihilist

Everyone can turn a little spiritual when times get challenging.

When times get tough, it is the perfect time to say a prayer. Prayers don’t hurt and can only help.

Prayers are merely mental intentions you can repeat internally, so no one, except yourself, ever has to know.

They are words you say that can promote a directed, pointed focus, perhaps otherworldly attention, on certain areas.

I think of prayers like a Hail Mary Pass in football. Hail Mary Passes are long passes with a small chance of success, but they can be successful.

If you would like to say a prayer for strength to get through any level of life rapids you are experiencing, please take a moment to take three deep inhalations and exhalations.

If your legs are crossed, uncross them, place your hands palm up at your sides.

Dear {insert preferred name for the divine},

Please direct me to the immediate action I need to take that will benefit this situation for the highest and greatest good.

Please give me at least one long-range idea that can help me move through this situation with greater ease.

Please align me with the resources I need to manifest the vision you have given me for success in physical form.

I ask that you channel through me the emotions of humility, compassion, empathy, persistence, determination, and honesty that I need to interact with everyone on my path and achieve a successful outcome of my situation.

I also ask that you channel through me mental and emotional strength, positivity, optimism, hope, along with grounded realism, so that I can move through this situation seeing things clearly and relatively unscathed.

If there is any expertise I need to get through this situation, that I currently do not have, please send me a sign as to the exact support I need and guide me to it.

If there is a person who can help me navigate these times better, please place them in my path in a loving, non-threatening way.

Thank you for your loving guidance always.

If you are saying this prayer for others, simply replace the pronouns; “my” with “their,” or “me” with “them,” “I” with “they,” having the other person in mind.

Even if you were able to skate above all of the high drama from 2020 and on, you may be experiencing difficult times for other reasons or you may in the future, in which case, bookmark this page.
