This last weekend I traveled to Southern Louisiana for a wedding and during my visit, I had some time to tour the French Quarter in New Orleans.

The French Quarter is an artist district in New Orleans and it’s filled with beautiful treasures, shops and eateries.

While there, I discovered Royal Street Stones & Jewelry, also called Royal Street Stones, who were advertising chill vibes and crystals on their chalkboard.

Inside Royal Street Stones, you’ll mostly find jewelry, and there’s also a wide array of spiritual supplies, including a wall of oracles and tarot decks.

  • It’s in a tin, which will hold up longer than a box

  • It has a petite card size, perfect for small hands

  • It has soft, delicate and animal-focused imagery

Animal imagery is very easy for myself and clients to relate to. Compared to human imagery, it removes you from the drama of the human experience, which softens, but still delivers the message.

It’s made using watercolor and gouache, and it’s a modern minimalist 78 card deck based on the classical model of tarot. The deck is designed to be read using the 7 Chakras to balance your energy as you’ll see below.

  • Cups are illustrated with otters (my favorite change)

  • Swords are illustrated with big cats

  • Wands are illustrated with birds and pussy willows

  • Pentacles are illustrated with elephants and sand dollars

Before reading with this deck, make sure to thoroughly shuffle it.

You can do this by spreading all the cards out on a flat surface and using both your hands to mix them up.

For my first reading with the deck, I did the “Chakra Energy Rainbow Spread” as suggested by the instructional cards shown above.

I’m now starting to use the deck as normal for daily card pulls and have enjoyed the gentle energy and imagery on this deck. I can easily see it becoming part of my regular rotation.
