Welcome to November!

As we move into the eleventh edition of this series, and on the day before entering into a series of Spiritual Holidays all over the world, I wanted to feature a seasonal deck.

See this content in the original post

I got it in June and played with it all summer, and it put me into the Fall Spirit. So as we move now into formal Autumn in my part of the world, I find I love it even more.

The cards themselves have short 1-3 word descriptions on them. Each card is big and glossy and has an accompanying detailed explanation and poem inside the book.

The guidebook offers two ways to use the deck, how to perform a dedication for the deck and a short history of Halloween.

Today, I am living and writing near the city known for one of the first Halloween Parades in the country in 1905. I've also often joked that my life sometimes feels like I'm living inside Halloween, so I knew I had to try an Oracle Card Deck with this topic.

It's a little dark in theme, with lots of reference to the transition to Spirit we all know is coming and each will face one day, this transition known as Death. It also has many light cards, though, both emotionally and spiritually, so I still feel it's a well-rounded deck given it is Halloween-holiday focused.

For this month's reading, I'm pulling four cards, plus a bonus Clarifying Card as energy to boost us and carry all month long for the most favorable outcome from this deck.

The cards for this month's interpretation are

  • Overarching Card - the energy for the month

  • Card one - The Past, what we're moving out of, what's influencing the now

  • Card two - The Present, the energy we're stepping into

  • Card three - The Future, where this is going

I’ll also do one bonus card as a Final Support / Clarifying Card - the power energy to hold onto for the month to get us through.

If you want, take a minute now and set an intention for where you want to direct your focus of energy for this month.

Having an intention for a card reading can help the energy and the messages from the cards flow where they need to go and work on your behalf with less actual work from you.

Have your intention? What do you want to see by the end of the month?

Let's begin -

Overarching Card - the energy for the month

Vampire

Emotional Intelligence

The deepest, the coldest

The craving of the blood

The hole never filled

The longing like a flood.

This Card immediately says this month is about boundaries.

In the book, in addition to the poem above, DeMarco writes that should a Vampire appear in your reading, be very aware of what gives us energy and what takes it away.

Developing the emotional intelligence of awareness enables us to foster healthy relationships of all kinds.

Watch your boundaries this month and notice what or who nourishes you. Also, what or who takes it away.

Taking stock this month in what is depleting, and what is serving you, is going to assist you tremendously this month.

Is there something that feels out of balance?

Trust your heart on this. The Vampire appears as a strong sign of empathic abilities or clairsentient gifts, meaning your ability to feel the truth may be higher this month.

Likewise, is there something that gives back energy to you? Make time for this - the Vampire uses an entire long night to give back to itself, which is how he or she lives for thousands of years.

Use your empathy this November in knowing where you are fed and who needs this from you. Consider taking inventory on your boundaries. Managing this type of psychic energy could be beneficial for you.

Given that the Vampire card is our Overarching Card, it also can signify that you may be presented with clear opportunities this month to restructure how you observe and interact with things.

Use any heightened empathy to heed and look right at what your emotional IQ is telling you, then readjust as needed for balance.

Card Two - the past, what we're moving out of, what's influencing the now

Winter

The sacredness of pausing

Lightly I step, for

The earth falls asleep

A lullaby to rest and pause

The soul's secrets to keep

Demarco writes:

Should the Winter card appear to you, it's time to let what no longer serves you die away. Where it seems natural and right to let things that have been bothering you for some time to die back, take real action to change those things.

Anything that is superfluous, 'extra' and burdensome - release it.

The Winter card has been coming up with frequency in my readings with this deck since summer. The Winter Card, when it appears out of Winter, can symbolize a considerable pause, or freezing over, and usually in the natural cycle of life, these pauses exist for a reason.

Either time or action moves us to the next part of the cycle.

Given the past position, it shows you may have been in a pattern of Winter release recently and that this was the end of a natural cycle.

Think back to your most recent past, has something felt paused or on-hold? Winter energy is here to confirm it may have been influencing things.

You can generally shift yourself into the future and movement by letting what needs to die - die - and then focusing on the new growth.

As we know with Winter, there is always a new birth that comes after the release. After you let the death happen, something else begins to unfold - always.

Traditionally, Winter in clairvoyant visions can often symbolize a leaner time of the year. If you have been moving through a leaner period, know it's in the past, you're moving out of that now.

In many traditions, Winter also symbolizes water, so this Card can also signify you are moving out of a phase that requires lots of water energy, yin, or emotion.

Winter can also symbolize a time of moving back to the Dark Mother, which can be a lot of shadow or healing work. Yet, in the past, this means you are now stepping out of this energy.

So we have some slow pausing stuff moving out, which you may be excited to see. That's what's influencing us moving into the now, so now let's go into the present.

For the present or mid-month position -

Card Three - the present, the energy we're stepping into

Ghost

Regret

Like smoke rising from the ashes

A mist from the sea

The dead they are watching

They have come to haunt me.

In my work with Spirits, a Ghost is defined as a living Spirit who is still Earthbound. The Ghost often symbolizes a Spirit with some heaviness, usually some guilt, regret or fear that they need to be freed of before they can move on.

In the present position, a present Ghost can indicate that you may have some regrets to let go of.

The author writes,

Holding grudges or regrets is burdensome work and it weighs us down eventually.

By taking actions to free ourselves from these old burdens, we clear the way for more rightful and wise action. We can begin to fully live if we let go of what was and step into new possibilities.

It means that some emotional Ghost is dropping away. Do you have an old Ghost or residual energy or belief system you can drop? Is there some attachment to sorrow or guilt that you can forgive yourself for?

Letting go of Ghosts also means you no longer engage them when they come around.

This Card can also be an alert that some "old Ghosts'" may present themselves. With your heightened emotional intelligence from the Vampire, identify them, and use your empath IQ to choose to welcome them in or not.

A Ghost card can also indicate a Spirit or a Ghost has a message for you. However, I will tell you for sure in readings that it is almost always to release and introduce new insight when they do have words.

So either way, it's time to address the Ghost in the room.

It feels natural and gentle, though, almost like a closure.

The Ghost is standing glowing in the golden Light, which indicates you may know what regret it's time to drop to live fully in the now.

For releasing regret, one of the most common Ghosts, I like focusing on living in the present moment.

You can do this step-by-step by asking, What can I do now to commit to my purpose?

Now that we're coming out of a slow period and ready to drop some Ghosts, let's look at where this is going.

Card four - the future, where this is going

Photo of The Halloween Oracle Graveyard card on wooden table, with three upright cards in background

Graveyard

Unnecessary fear

The stones they mark

The Eternal resting place

Yet the spirits they are walking

And they are ready for the chase!

Graveyards, to me, always symbolize peace and confronting one of the only knowns we have - that our cycle will continue eventually.

When I was in graduate school, I was the teaching assistant for an ecology lab where we studied graveyards and human mortality. Every week, the students would observe the natural cycles of one of the earth's population.

As part of this class, all students went through what we called the Graveyard lab. We took them on a bus to count the birth and death dates of headstones at old cemetaries the field to calculate and understand mortality rates for humans.

Then, we would hypothesize the reason for such deaths at such periods, given what we knew from records of various things that affected society.

The lab's point was to remind young ecologists that we are part of the ecology, too. To be a reminder that our charts can be counted, as it is done for all other species.

The students always really liked it, though it was morbid.

It gave students a chance to think and create thoughts on the idea that we are animals who will also pass on one day. I also feel it provided perspective and added the question of validity to evaluating a life by only two numbers on a spreadsheet (birth and death).

I also enjoyed teaching it. So, when I look at graveyard symbolism now, it has a different meaning to me than names on a headstone.

Graveyards help us confront the known and make peace with our part in the cycle of life.

This card appears when we are ready to drop an unnecessary fear.

Confronting all the fears of all the things that happened, can help us take the adrenaline out of the truth, I feel, by putting you side-by-side with the one event we all face.

For this Card, the author writes:

When you pull this Card it is to let you know that you fear unnecessarily. Things are not as they seem and you can overcome your obstacles. The anxieties you have, although real, should be put aside before they haunt you long term. Instead, trust that you know the correct next steps and you will act upon them.

With the Ghost card above, and the Graveyard card now, it seems like part of the message for November is about confronting mortality and the cycle of letting things go, and moving out of the Winter.

Do you have any fears that are mostly unnecessary? Do you have evidence that the thing you fear is true? Is it time to take this fear, and look right at it, and let it enter the graveyard?

Do you have a bunch of fears that can be put into the ground?

If so, this Card is an invitation to release these worries and a sign you can put them in the final resting spot.

The way I release fear, is by asking what am I worrying about that’s not true? What can I do to take one step towards peace?

The good news is also the more you practice releasing fears and addressing them, the easier the process tends to become.

Final Support / Clarifying Card - the power energy to hold onto for the month to get us through

Photo of The Halloween Oracle, Forgiveness card over three cards turned upright on table

Forgiveness

Reducing Burden

Are you ready to transcend into the Light?

For the energy to carry us through all the influences this month, we have the Forgiveness card. It depicts a person's hand holding a white flower surrounded by golden, white, and yellow Light.

The way I see this Card, is almost how I see a Power Animal or Affirmation Card in a reading. It's there as an ally or energy to go back to as you transcend above all this.

What do I do to move out of Winter? Forgiveness

What do I do to drop this Ghost? Forgiveness

What do I do to identify and drop an overactive fear? Forgiveness

The poem in the book that goes with the Card reads:

A wrong is done

Consequences you cannot deny

But to hold a grudge is to drink poison

And think that the other person

Will die.

Forgiveness is considered the last step of spiritual ascension because releasing others of their past also releases you. It frees all to return to their eternal nature. It allows others to ascend with you.

It lets all go of their worries, their hurts, their sorrows, or their fears and it also absolves you of it all too.

This reading also seems to say letting go of ghosts, sliding past unnecessary fears, and using emotional intelligence to do both leads you to Forgiveness.

When a person has Forgiveness in their energy field, they often glow or appear with a halo in an energy reading, which I feel is why the glowing hand in the art on this card makes sense here.

Forgiveness can add glow to your aura, which means, when you ask, how do I forgive? This month? In this interaction? Your soul radiates and will glow through your skin as you move closer to the Light in your action towards Forgiveness.

Forgiveness is the energy gift and tool to use this month, and as the Clarifying Card to ask where all this is going, it is the icing on the cake.

When you forgive, you radiate bliss and joy.

There's no darkness in your energy field at all, and it can feel like your soul is buoyant and light.

Imagine the feeling of a happy dog or a yellow balloon in a bright blue sky day. This is the sweetness of emotion and existence on the other side of Forgiveness.

This Card suggests the energy of Forgiveness would be a good one to carry this month. When in doubt, the answer that will serve you to carry is to Forgive.

So to recap

Photo of five cards from The Halloween Oracle, from top left: Vampire (Overarching Energy), Forgiveness (The Energy To Carry Moving Forward), Winter (The Past), Ghost (The Present), and Graveyard (The Future) on wooden table upright.

Overall, November looks like an emphatically aware and spiritually healing month of pause, release, and trust - with a virtue waiting for you in the Light at the end of the month: Forgiveness.

Use the Vampire's emotional intelligence to look at the scales of where you are fed, and what is feeding on you. Adjust if needed.

The slowness is moving out, now it's the perfect time to let the Ghost of what was, die, and while unnecessary fear is present, hopefully, you will be invited to find ways to put those to rest this month.

When in doubt, move towards Forgiveness. This is the final message, and also the power energy.

All in all, it looks like a lot of heavy energy is lifting this month, so very excited to see what December brings -
