Spirit Guides have names.

While Spirit Guides will answer to just about anything you call them, they can be identified individually by:

  • A color

  • A symbol

  • A numerical code

  • Or a name

I think about Spirit Guide names as identifying characteristics I describe as calling cards.

Knowing the name of a Spirit Guide is one of the most reassuring of the calling cards and it helps you make the connection.

Determining the names of your guides is important because -

  • You know who you’re connecting with.

  • Helps you place the energy, so you can sort it, and identify it more quickly the next time it all comes.

  • It’s a helpful way to organize energy, information, and thoughts occurring in creating more peace of mind when interacting on the non-physical plane.

Spirit guides can choose to communicate with you in many ways, a few are:

  • By providing you with intuitive signals, hunches, a knowingness, gut feelings.

  • Nudges in a specific direction or even small pushes to do or say something you wouldn't usually say.

  • Give you a feeling you get about something. This is called clairsentient transference.

  • Sending you physical signals - such as books, flyers, commercials, songs - to deliver physical messages hard to display otherwise.

  • One of their most favorite methods of communication is by delivering messages to you through other people.

First let’s talk about how the beings get their messages to you -

How Spirit Guide Messages Reach Us

There are three main ways

  • Divine Revelation (clairvoyant/claircognizant message)

  • Through Others (including through animals)

  • A Feeling In Your Soul (clairsentience)

Spirit Guides want us to know that we are all Spirit Guides in human bodies, first and foremost, so their messages can and will often reach us through other willing human channels.

Unknowingly to the recipient, Spirit Guides will often give information to your friends, loved ones, strangers on the street, teachers, or others.

But, you have to be open to receive these messages, no matter how they are received, and not on the defensive at the time you receive them, for this to work.

Also, they have to find someone you trust to deliver it through.

Your Spirit Guides will continue to send you clues, signals, subtle signs to help guide and direct you on your life path as these messages get to you, you can tap into more straightforward guidance by communicating with your guide directly.

Working directly with a Spirit Guide can help you

  • Feel empowered and secure in making decisions and amongst changes.

  • Have more clarity, confidence, and insight on your life path.

  • Develop your spiritual and intuitive gifts.

  • Become more compassionate and understanding for yourself and others.

  • Make a more significant difference in the world and your environment.

  • Find love and loving relationships more quickly.

  • Heal long-standing issues and emotional pains.

  • Surrender and have fun with the way things are and where they are going.

  • Smile more often.

The first step in working with your Spirit Guides is getting more direct information, and you can do this by knowing what to call them.

This way, when you do decide to call them forward in meditation or while you are visioning or on a meditative walk, you know who is there.

Knowing what source you are receiving from makes it easier for you to trust the source.

Once you have a name and you can begin calling it forward, you can then start to identify the energy you sense when you have that name.

This will validate anything you receive clairaudiently or claircognizantly (the name, when you hear it) with clairsentient feedback, providing double validation, making it easier to trust.

The importance of the name of your Spirit Guide

Your Spirit Guides do have names, or at least energetic signatures, by which you can call on them and identify them.

Does it matter what their names are? Having something to call an isolate being you're talking to helps you:

  • Identify the energy

  • Establish a connection

  • You call them forward for careful guidance when needed

Each of your guides will have slightly different energies, personalities, opinions, and vibrations.

You will be able to pick up and learn these in time, but the name of your guide is something you can pick up right now.

To get the name of your Spirit Guide

An exercise

Let your mind go blank. Breathe in and out three times.

Stop thinking, just take some deep breaths and imagine all your energy settling to your feet like sand in a glass water jar.

I also like to imagine a blue pearl swirling around the inside of my mind.

It is harder to get anything intuitively the more you try to concentrate on thinking it up. It's funny like that I know but the more you let your mind go, the easier it will be.

So, release the need for thought.

Let it go. Breathe.

Then, merely ask out loud, or within your mind,

“What is the name of the Spirit Guide who is ready to work with me now?”

And wait, see if you get something in your mind or if you hear a whisper.

You may see a symbol, which can signify the name.

Grab the first name or symbol that comes to mind

Sometimes guides can be identified by symbols or numerical codes, too.

Whatever you receive, just let it be. It doesn’t have to be abstract, either, as some Spirit Guides have very common names such as Julia or Bob or Jack.

If a symbol comes to mind, the word you associate with this symbol is likely the name of your Guide. For example if you see a Heart, your Spirit Guide’s name could be the name of whatever it is that governs your heart.

Write down the first thing that comes to mind, and this is most likely the name of one of your Spirit Guides.

If it is, the name or other identifying characteristics are often later validated by other means, such as through friends or intuitive readings you may receive later.

Your Spirit Guide may even share the name of someone you already know, such as your daughter, lab partner, or your cat. The name of your Spirit Guide can also be a completely new name.
